Installed on a balcony, below Waterloo Bridge (London, UK) a reflective silhouette leans outward as
a silent figure suspended above. Framed by the aged wall and surrounding architecture of Somerset House, it appears less like a body and more like an apparition of light.

The mirrored surface captures daylight, shifting constantly between reassurance and unease: sometimes luminous and protective, other times spectral and distant.

Beyond its visual ambiguity, The Gleaming Observer stages a reflection on social hierarchies. The elevated position evokes the divide between those “above” and those “below,” between visibility and exclusion.
